Tennessee is located in the Southeastern portion of the United States. The Tennessee population is 5,962,959 (US Census 2005). Established as a statehood on June 1, 1796, Tennessee has a land area of 41,217 sq. mi. Its highest point is Clingmans Dome at 6,643 ft. and its lowest point is the Mississippi River at 178 ft.

A large portion of Great Smoky Mountains National Park lies in east Tennessee just outside Gatlinburg, Townsend, and Cosby and is only 38 miles from Knoxville. Nashville, Tennessee's capital, is situated in middle Tennessee and is home of the Grand Ole Opry. Memphis, located in western Tennessee on the Arkansas border, is home of Elvis Presley's Graceland mansion.
