Allardt's Great Pumpkin Festival


Allardt's Annual Great Pumpkin Festival and Weigh-off is held the first week in October. Food and crafts vendors set up in Allardt's Bruno Gernt Park on Friday evening, all day Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. "Pickin' in the Park" is featured on Sunday with traditional musicians (acoustic) performing under the trees. Viewers' Choice award for in-the-park performers $300 prize.

A Beauty Pageant is held on Saturday at York Institute auditorium. Display your decorating skills and enter the Allardt Great Pumpkin Festival and Weigh-off Decorating Contest. Any home or business in Fentress County is eligible to enter. Categories: Residential, Commercial, and School. Just decorate the yard or exterior of your home, business, or school with a harvest theme, using pumpkins, gourds, scarecrows, cornstalks, hay bales, or your choice of seasonal items.

The Pumpkin Run is held at Allardt School. Categories of entry are 10K run, 5K run, 3K Fun Run. Entry fees.

Weigh-Off of Pumpkins and Other Vegetables is held at Allardt Food Market. Top three pumpkin winners are awarded cash prizes.

A Car Show is held on Saturday at the 4-Way Stop in Allardt. Car Show entry fee. Trophies to the top 25 vehicles. Best GM, Best Ford, Best Import, Best Mopar, Best 84 Model & Up, Best Street Rod, Best Truck, Best of Show.

The Pumpkin Festival Parade is held on Saturday. Parade entries line up on the Baseline Road. Follow Highway 52 E from Allardt past the orange water tower to the Les Franklin Road. Turn left at the Les Franklin Road. Then enter the Baseline Road from the Les Franklin Road only.

A Motorcycle Show is held on Saturday at the Allardt Elementary School parking lot. Pre-registration is not required. Entry fee. Open to all. Trophies and ribbons awarded to top three bikes in 12 categories.

Antique Tractor Show is on Saturday at the 4-Way Stop in Allardt.

Children's Costume Contest is on Saturday on stage at City Hall lawn. Categories: Ages 0-2 years; 3-5 years; 6-8 years; 9-12 years; and group. Any costume theme acceptable.

Bake Sale and Silent Auction is on Saturday at the center shelter in the park.

The Quilt Show is held at the Allardt Presbyterian Church Saturday. Categories: Wall Hanging, Quilt Top, Hand Quilted, Machine Quilted, Whole Cloth Quilt, and Hand Applique Quilt. There are ribbons for the first three places in each category with a Best of ShowAward.

Open Talent Show at Allardt City Hall is on Saturday.

Catch Mayberry Memories all day Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Gomer, Barney, and the Mayberry Squad Car appear in the park. Mingle with the crowd posing for photos and signing autographs.

Crafts and Food Vendors are at Bruno Gernt Park, Saturday and Sunday. All types of handmade crafts, dolls, wood crafts, floral crafts, quilts, oil paintings, wall hangings, honey, T-shirts, Christmas items, ornaments, yard art, ceramics, baskets, wooden toys, homemade goodies. Hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, homemade desserts, ice cream, and specialty foods.
